I worked at two other agencies and did a brief stint in a corporate setting before landing at what I thought in 1997 and still believe now is the gold standard of public relations firms. I joined GolinHarris because of its reputation for great clients, great work, great people and a great culture. And those reasons are as real for me today as they were on my first day here. What’s really fun is to watch new clients and employees
discover these reasons for themselves — and then wonder how or why they ever worked with or for anyone else.
In my role as a global practice leader, with my GolinHarris colleagues around the world, I get to work on global assignments for clients like Dow Chemical, Underwriter’s Laboratories, Trans Union and Wrigley. Whether we’re building and enhancing corporate brands or protecting them when they’re under attack, our teams really understand the difference between being global and working global. It’s a way of thinking and a way of working that makes really smart strategies and ideas work harder and deliver positive results.
These are interesting times for companies learning (some the hard way) the true power of reputation in creating real value, breaking away from the competition, engaging stakeholders in positive action and driving bottom line results. The power of social media, the demand for transparency, the growing power of NGOs, the increasing interplay between government and business and the expectations of investors, customers and consumers — all converging in a global context — make the work I do with clients and colleagues more challenging and exciting than ever.

What’s on my iPod, Kindle and TiVo
The iPod is a mix: Radiohead, Coldplay, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Gordon Goodwin and lots of Jimmy Buffett. The TiVo always has episodes of 24, The Office, Friday Night Lights, Good Eats and Dirty Jobs ready and waiting.
My Favorite Pastimes
Spending time with my wife, sons and hyperactive dogs, DIY projects around the house, following the Cubs, Bears and Badgers, and imitating Bobby Flay.
My Favorite Quote
“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.” – Michelangelo
